EMF Fields - The Invisible Intruder
Our previous technical manager, Wayne Collins, opened our eyes to measuring with an AC meter when clients reportedly had experienced unexplained phenomena. Some might argue the effects of high EMF but it became even clearer once we witnessed how our lead investigator reacted to these strong invisible fields.
In March of 2009, we investigated the Colonial Inn located in Concord Ma., where staff members along with guests had experienced alleged paranormal activity. Mr. Grossberg, the proprietor of the Colonial Inn was exceptional in allowing us to investigate the location at no charge.
We investigated Room #24, said to be the harbinger hotspot and as we setup, eagerly Wayne opened his paranormal toolbox and reached for his Lutron 822-A digital EMF detector. This was a popular meter because of the widespread usage on Ghost Hunters.
Instantaneously, the digital display peaked at 19 mG when measuring an alarm clock situated on an end table right next to the bed. Wayne suggested patrons conceivably experienced a continuous exposure while sleeping prompting a hallucinatory reaction.
All of us appreciated his grounded approach searching for xenonormal explanations but it was much later when we became aware of the effects. We decided to explore the hallways since Room #24 quickly became mundane and approached several emergency lighting stations in the hallways of the Colonial Inn.
We experienced a rather overwhelming feeling of being watched and what was perceived as “heavy air” when standing directly beneath the emergency lighting stations. All of us felt various levels of intensity, but, when Jeremy Pike our lead investigator stood underneath them, almost immediately we observed the hair on his arm stand up and his skin goose pimpling. The photograph below is an actual picture of his arm.
By far, he was the one most adversely affected by high EMF and the fields were substantiated with the Lutron 822-A measuring over 100 mG at several lighting stations. Jeremy complained of his discomfort immediately and once he vacated these potentially high EMF areas, the symptoms dissipated quickly.
After this investigation we all felt Jeremy was our human EMF meter and without question many times his reaction has validated high EMF fields.
Unfortunately, Wayne no longer investigates with NEAPRI on a regular basis moving back to New York state in the first quarter of 2010 to be closer to family. Subsequently, his Lutron 822-A digital EMF meter has been missed almost as much as his investigative skills.
We now have in our possession a Lutron that we purchased in October 2010, and quickly it’s become our favorite AC meter once again.
Coincidentally, the first time we used the new Lutron 822-A at the Four Seasons Bar in Enfield, CT., Wayne made a return visit to investigate with us. Interestingly, we were able to compare the readings from the two meters simultaneously.
It's very easy to replace valuable equipment in your paranormal arsenal but it’s certainly much more difficult when replacing a great investigator.
